Increment Borers
An increment borer is a tool used for extracting small, cylindrical samples from trees in order to study their growth patterns and determine their age. It typically consists of a hollow, cylindrical bit with a threaded tip and a handle. The increment borer is inserted into the trunk of a tree and rotated, removing a small core sample that includes the annual growth rings of the tree. These samples can be used to study the tree's growth rate, age, and health, as well as to gather information about environmental conditions such as drought or insect infestations. Increment borers are commonly used in forestry and tree research and come in various sizes and lengths to accommodate different tree species and trunk diameters. They are typically made from high-quality steel or other durable materials and may have special features such as replaceable bits or adjustable depth stops for improved accuracy and ease of use. The use of increment borers is generally considered safe for the tree if done correctly, as the small samples taken are typically not harmful to the overall health of the tree. At CSP, we offer quality Haglof Increment borers and accessories!
