We did a field test on this tool yesterday in a 6 acre buckthorn patch and this is what we came away with. It's a no-brainer to use a board for support. We used a 12"x12"x3/4" plywood that should have had cleats to hold the foot from slipping. We bent the support trying to pull 1" diameter plants, but it seemed to work well on stems 1/2"to 3/4" dia. It couldn't grab smaller stems. The cable broke early on, but that might have been operator error. It also seemed to work better as a two man operation. Conclusion: Tool is a good idea but needs some re-engineering, fine for small stuff, but didn't really live up to even moderate demands .
